M. Hanjani – 5th Dan, JKA

Mr. Hanjani, a 5th Dan Certified Instructor, currently serves as the Chief Instructor at JKA Virginia (JKAVA).

He initiated his karate journey in 1988 at the Japan Karate Association of Virginia and achieved a significant milestone by successfully completing Sensei Mori’s A class instructor course at the JKA of New York, the official headquarters of the “Japan Karate Association” in the United States, thus bringing a wealth of expertise to his role.  http://www.jkany.org

Sensei Hanjani not only sustains a personal passion for accomplishing goals but also dedicates his time with enthusiasm to assisting others in achieving theirs.

He has been training and participating in the different camps and seminars conducted by many world known masters and instructors.

Michael Burnham – 4th Dan, JKA
Certified Instructor
Active Experience, 30 Years

Michael Burnham began training in karate at the University of Connecticut JKA Karate Club in 1994.  He is a graduate of Master Masataka Mori’s Shotokan Karate Do International Instructor Course in New York City. 

JKA Certified D level Instructor, Examiner and Judge.

He has competed in JKA regional and international tournaments.

Lia Burnham – 4th Dan, JKA
Certified Instructor
Active Experience, 29 Years

Lia Burnham began training in karate at the University of Connecticut JKA Karate Club in 1995.  She is a graduate of Master Masataka Mori’s Shotokan Karate Do International Instructor Course in New York City. 

JKA Certified D level Instructor, Examiner and Judge.

She has competed in JKA regional and international tournaments, placing in Women’s Kumite, Men’s Team Kumite, Women’s Kata and Team Kata.  

At the 2014 SKDI Spring Championships, she placed First in Women’s Black Belt Kumite.

 

Ducie Le – 3rd Dan, JKA
Assistant Instructor
Active Experience, 20 Years

Ducie Le began training karate with the Fairfax Shotokan Karate Club in 1997 while in her last year of law school. After several pauses in her karate training, she joined JKA Virginia in 2013 to resume training. 

More recently, Ducie has served as an assistant karate instructor at the YMCA, and at local housing communities developed by the Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing. 

Ducie received her 1st Dan from Sensei Teruyuki Okazaki, her 2nd Dan from Sensei Masataka Mori, and her 3rd Dan from Sensei Shu Takahashi.
